Freudenberg is a popular town in the three-country corner on the Main River, where Bavaria, Hesse and Baden-Württemberg meet at respective sections of the Main River bank. Freudenberg belongs to the northern tip of Baden-Württemberg, west of Wertheim, and is the most northwestern town in the Main-Tauber district. With its four additional districts, Freudenberg has a population of just under 4,000. Freudenberg is also known for its castle complex, which rises proudly above the meanders of the Main River and is a contemporary witness to an eventful past, when two bishoprics fought bitterly for supremacy in this section of the Main. Today, Freudenberg is a popular residential location that radiates tranquility above all else; nevertheless, it is easy to reach via the nearby highways.
